The story introduces us to Sky Davis, the teenager who has been homeschooled her whole life and is now ready to experience real high school. But the question is will she be able to survive real school life?

On the other hand, the male protagonist, Dean Holder, has returned to school from juvenile detention for severely hitting a gay student. A bad boy with tattoos and rumors.

Sky has a friend who lives next to her house, but unfortunately, she couldn’t attend school this year. So, Sky is determined to face school alone.

Upon her arrival at school, Sky faces harsh behaviors, rumors, and bullying. She meets Dean and gets instantly attracted to him. Dean, who is mostly cold towards everybody, forms a friendship with Sky. Sky can feel the bad boy aura of Dean, but she finds it hard to stay away from him.

Dean is very curious about Sky. Their bond grows as time passes, and they start to share their personal experiences about family and life. Dean shares his grief about his sister’s death. His sister, Les, committed suicide. Sky shares about his father, a cop with whom she has no connection. She lives with her adoptive mother, Karen. Although Sky had interactions with boys before, she never felt anything physically strong with them, but with Dean, she gets a different vibe.

One day Dean sees Sky wearing a familiar bracelet, and he loses his temper. She was confused by Dean’s reaction. Sky had that bracelet long before she was adopted.

Dean confesses to Sky that he didn’t beat that kid because he was gay. The guy provoked Dean by saying his sister is a coward to commit suicide. Later, a drunk Dean sneaks into Sky’s home and calls her “Hope.” Sky didn’t dig into the matter, thinking it was the effect of the intoxication.

They both really liked each other. With time both of their feelings start to grow and escalate. The day Sky spent time with Dean in his house was when secrets were revealed.

The revelation about Dean knowing her since childhood, Sky’s real name being Hope, and she used to stay in Austin. All these secrets leave Sky in utter shock. Later she and Dean visit Austin to unfold the truths about her traumatic past.
